Twirly Birds
C/O Randy Rowles

The Twirly Birds is an exclusive and elite International Organization of the pioneering pilots of helicopters and other vertical take-off aircraft founded in 1945.

Purpose : When it so happens that two or more individuals have shared the same experiences, encouragement's, hardships and perhaps, dangers and as a result of them have seen progress and advancement arise from their efforts, there is between them a bond of fellowship and understanding that cannot be destroyed.

This organization is to be composed of just individuals ... those who cast their lot with the helicopter and other  vertical take-off aircraft in their infancy, who frequently faced derision and scorn because they saw what others could not see, who did what others could not or would not do, and who arrived at the goals beyond which opens limitless opportunities. The sole purpose of this organization, therefore, is to recognize and cement that fellowship and to facilitate the cordial exchange of experience and opinions as the helicopter and other vertical take-off aircraft art progresses.

Membership: Limited to those who have accomplished the following:

Founder Member: Those who have soloed a helicopter or other vertical take-off aircraft in sustained complete flight, including a take-off and landing prior to V-J Day ( 14 August 1945 ).

General Member: Those who have soloed a helicopter or other vertical take-off aircraft in sustained complete flight, including a take-off and landing over 20 years ago.

Associate MemberAn outstanding individual, who is not a rotary wing pilot, but has made a significant contribution to the industry for at least 20 years and have been unanimously approved by the regular Twirly Bird membership
